Who am I?

Hi. Eli Temchin. Damn glad to meet you. (if you know, you know) I am a father, husband, Eagle Scout, photographer, constant learner and someone who feels most at home in the great outdoors. Overall, I think the world makes more sense if you slow down long enough to actually see it and enjoy it. Like Ferris Bueller once said - “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

I grew up in Kansas City and now call Texas home, but the outdoors has always been my grounding place. Trails, state parks, mountains, lakes and oceans, quiet mornings, overlooked details — that’s where I slow down and reset.

Photography became the natural extension of that. Not the technical side — the seeing side. The part where you notice the little things. When things just feel right and you want to remember that feeling. The photographs are never exactly the same as being there, but they are pretty close.

Scouting shaped the rest of me. It taught me service. It taught me leadership. It taught me that the best way to guide others is to show up with presence, humility, and heart. It taught me hard work and authenticity.

Those two worlds — the outdoors and servant leadership — blend into everything I create.

My work isn’t about taking pictures. It’s about helping people see the world differently: by slowing down, looking closer, and serving with purpose.

Whether I’m photographing a landscape, behind the scenes at a Scout function, or a quiet moment on a trail, my goal is the same: capture the moments that matter, the ones we usually rush past, the ones that remind us to live with intention.

This is me. My photography, my words. At the core of it, I’m a storyteller, a leader, a photographer.

If my images or my writing make you pause, breathe, or see your world with a little more clarity… then you need to say hello so we can be friends.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
— Howard Thurman
